install of 8.2.1 or 8.2.93 hangs at configuring network card

Hi,
I created bootable usbs (using sudo dd ...) successfully. Trying to install to laptop dell latitude E6230 with 8Gb RAM and 120 Gb ssd.  Installation goes well (either creating a boot partition, or not) with both usbs... but hangs at network card configuration. It 'sees' two cards, but refuses the w.... card which is present on the laptop, rather tries to select a second option (which I am not sure is present). The only way (that I know of) to exit from failed installation is to kill the machine with the power button. ctrl + alt +del does nothing. Suggestions please... thanks in advance, AA

Welcome to the forums.

I beleave the fact that you have two networks cards could be the reason.

I would need some info about your hardware.
Could you post here the result of lspci command (by using any liveUSB distribution)

Is it getting stuck when you have this picture ?

Hello and thanks for your interest. On that laptop is now installed a system built from ubuntu-mini and lxde. The output from lspci is listed at the foot of this response (enclosed in <...>).

The installation hung before 'Configuration of eth0' dialogue box, from memory the box was headed 'Configuration of network card'. I guess I could try creating live installation usb from another brand of stick. Cheers aarn
