NuTyX newbie, JRE, games, and dependency hell
« on: Fri Dec 21 18:45:55 2018 »
NuTyX is my first more "advanced" Linux distro after using Ubuntu, MXLinux, and Manjaro. I love the speed and responsiveness of this distro! I primarily use Ratpoison or a lighter WM rather than a full DE.

While I primarily use my computer for browsing and Libreoffice, I do like to have a few card and board games on my computer to unwind.

I just did my first build from source code last night - gnuchess so I now have a chess engine to play against on Gnome-Chess. My next goals are to work on Ratmenu and some game clients for Go (like qGo), Shogi, Xiangqi, and other card games like Gnome-Hearts. Getting my first sip of dependency hell. ;-) Question - is JRE (Java Runtime Environment) part of the openjdk package in the cards?

Any other suggestions for games that are relatively easy builds for a newbie? Thanks!
