First NuTyX systemD MATE ISO
« on: Sat Dec 15 20:52:53 2018 »
It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to the very first MATE ISO using the SystemD boot system.

The first good news is that the installation is EXACTLY in the same way as the current NuTyX 10.5.

I want to thank Rémy and Hugo especially for their hard work.

To your downloads for the first tests.

PS. This is an ISO to just show the "proof of concept", which means:

- Don't choose the first 2 entries in GRUB unless your reinstalled the kernel-lts package
- Libreoffice needs to be recompiled

Congratulations.  :)

Does this mean that NuTyX will only use systemd in the future?

If so, after systemd is adopted, will those who are using the rolling version (with sysvinit) need to reinstall, or will the rolling with sysvinit continue to receive updates?

Thank you.

Point 1:

Not yet decided, I see some scary points.

Point 2:
If so, after systemd is adopted, will those who are using the rolling version (with sysvinit) need to reinstall, or will the rolling with sysvinit continue to receive updates?
Will be at least on year more available. See point 1

Thank you.
You're welcome

What are the reasons for this decision? Was there any poll with most users asking for systemd, or is it only easier for you to maintain systemd?

The NuTyX team is grown up, we are now 3 main developers. Remy and Hugo started a systemd fork of NuTyX. I want to take the chance to see if it's still as crasy as before to make the jump into systemd world. As I says, this is far from being definitive, at the end I will decide if we go on or not with systemd. I will not drop systemV so easily
